Spay Wyoming Launching Web Site and Hotline
The Dog & Cat Shelter in Sheridan is now the coordinator of Spay Wyoming. We have received a small start-up grant to cover costs of the program over the years, so no Shelter funds are used. We are going to dedicate part of that grant for spay/neuter assistance, including our feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return Program, which has been inactive since we used up all the grant monies for that project.
As an affiliate of Spay USA, Spay Wyoming will accumulate information on low-cost spay/neuter options in Wyoming and provide that information to the public on the Spay Wyoming website, which will be soon located at www.spaywyoming.org. We have launched a toll-free hotline, 1-888-7WY-SPAY (1-888-799-7729) for people from low-income households anywhere in Wyoming to call and be directed to the clinic nearest them offering reduced rate surgeries for cats and dogs. Local people should call 675-1850.
Spay Wyoming will definitely be a cooperative effort. We want to recruit people in all regions of the state to help us gather information about low-cost spay/neuter opportunities in their area and to recruit donors to help us establish a state-wide spay/neuter assistance fund. If anyone is interested in helping, please contact us. Additionally, this information will allow Spay Wyoming to more easily identify the areas of Wyoming where more assistance is needed and to provide support in the development of further spay/neuter programs, including the recruitment of veterinarians to be part of a statewide network.
We hope by our efforts to reduce the number of unwanted births and enhance animal health through the many benefits that result from spaying or neutering.
If you know of any current spay/neuter assistance programs, spay/neuter clinics and/or veterinarians who are or would be willing to offer reduced rates for spays or neuters, please contact Cel at 307-674-7694, email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org, or of course call the Spay Wyoming phone line.
